The History of Metroflex Gym
Metroflex Gym was founded in 1987 by Brian Dobson who was getting tired of the commercialization of the fitness industry. Back then Gold's gym was the standard for hardcore training. The Gold's gym of Arnold's era was hardcore but the 1987 version was quickly fading into the mediocrity of corporate and family fitness centers. Of course if the goal is to become mega rich this is a great plan. If the goal is to build super athletes strongmen, powerlifting and bodybuilding champions something different had to be done. Brian understood the need for hard music for motivation ,the need for heavy(over 200 pound ) dumbbells, specialized bars for powerlifting, strongman equipment, chalk, deadlift and squat platforms and yelling, screaming slapping , whatever it takes to get motivated.

MetroFlex Provides Unique Atmosphere to Get
In Shape
MetroFlex Gym stirs memories from the Rocky movies.
It's obscure, dimly lit and not very neat. Loud music
screams at patrons, most of whom exclusively pump iron.
The gym doesn't have a boxing ring, but champions train
here. Nestled in 157 Business Park off South Cooper,
MetroFlex is home to body-building professionals and
power-lifting competitors, fitness gurus and housewives.
All keep coming back because of the atmosphere and the
owner, Brian Dobson.
